Set in the River City Ransom universe, Stay Cool, Kobayashi-san!: A River City Ransom Story is an action arcade title developed by Arc System Works and released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game follows Masao Kobayashi, the dominant figure atop Reiho High School's feared Big Four, whose backstory begins in middle school when he encounters Mizoguchi, a Time Regulator hunting an organization that has disrupted the space-time equilibrium. When that organization abducts one of Kobayashi's friends, he sets out alongside Mizoguchi to dismantle it. Gameplay involves beat 'em up combat with character progression tied to collecting stars, which can be spent on stat upgrades and equipment. The title features retro pixel art, full voice acting for all characters, and a branching structure that produces up to 20 different endings based on player decisions. Original directors Yoshihisa Kishimoto and Mokeke Sekimoto both contributed to the project.
