Stop the Express is a 1983 platform game developed for the ZX Spectrum, Commodore C64/128/MAX, MSX, and Sharp X1. The player takes the role of a special agent dispatched to recapture a hijacked train called the ITA Express. Gameplay involves moving across the train's carriages while contending with knife-throwing bandits and swooping alien birds, both of which must be fought or evaded. A key must be located to stop the train, adding an objective beyond mere survival. Low bridges along the route pose an additional environmental hazard that must be anticipated and avoided. The combination of enemy encounters, a collectible objective, and terrain-based dangers gives the game a varied set of challenges compressed into its fast-moving, side-scrolling platform structure.
