Stranglehold is a third-person action shooter developed by Midway Chicago and released in 2007 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game casts actor Chow Yun-Fat as Inspector Tequila, a Hong Kong detective pursuing his kidnapped daughter across locations including Hong Kong and Chicago, battling mafia members and gangsters throughout the single-player campaign. Combat emphasizes stylized movement, rewarding players with style points for acrobatic maneuvers such as running along banisters while firing. Accumulating enough points unlocks special abilities, including the Tequila Bomb and Tequila Time, the latter slowing enemies while leaving Tequila at full speed to improve targeting efficiency. Environments throughout the game are fully destructible and interactive, adding a dynamic element to gunfights. An online multiplayer mode supports up to eight players simultaneously.
