Sunlight is a short first-person exploration game developed by Krillbite Studio, the team behind Among the Sleep, Mosaic, and The Plan, released in 2021 for PlayStation 4 and PC. Set in an uncharted forest, the experience lasts approximately thirty minutes and centers on wandering through an environment rendered in hand-painted visuals created using Quill, giving the world the quality of a three-dimensional expressionist painting. Artistic influences include painters such as Monet and Munch. As players move through the forest, trees speak with distinct voices, genders, and dialects, collectively narrating a philosophical story. The audio design is central to the experience: music composed by Tchaikovsky was recorded at the Archbishop's Palace in Trondheim, Norway, performed by the choir Kammerkoret Aurum, and complemented by voice actors drawn from multiple continents. The result is an atmospheric, meditative work that prioritizes mood and artistic ambition over conventional gameplay mechanics.
