Released by Atari in 1978, Super Breakout is an arcade game and the follow-up to the original Breakout from 1976, running on a Motorola M6502 processor. The game offers three distinct modes, each with different rules and block configurations. Double Breakout features two paddles and two balls alongside 52 orange and 52 green blocks with varying point values. Cavity Breakout uses a single paddle and three balls, though the second and third balls must be freed from within the playfield before entering active play. Progressive Breakout, also played with one paddle and one ball, presents rows of blue and green blocks that descend toward the paddle at a rate tied to how often the ball contacts the paddle; destroyed blocks are replaced by new rows from above, creating an escalating challenge. This third mode is the only one capable of generating an unlimited score, though the display resets after reaching 10,000 points.
