Super Stardust Ultra VR is an arcade shooter developed by D3T Limited for PlayStation 4, released in 2016 as a PlayStation VR adaptation of Super Stardust Ultra. The game places the player inside the cockpit of a star fighter tasked with defending a planet against incoming threats. Rather than the series' traditional top-down perspective, this version shifts to a first-person viewpoint enabled by the PlayStation VR headset, using head tracking to aim and fire at enemies. The control scheme is built around the hardware's capabilities, allowing players to direct attacks simply by looking toward targets. The game includes the original Super Stardust Ultra modes, reworked for the VR format, and features online leaderboards where players can compare scores globally. It serves as both an entry point into VR gaming and a revisitation of a familiar PlayStation arcade franchise from an entirely new vantage point.
