Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams is a 2004 platform-adventure game developed by Avalanche Software, released on Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, and PlayStation 2. A follow-up to the original Tak title, it retains much of the same core gameplay while introducing several refinements. The protagonist traverses a wide variety of environments — tropical forests, canyons, volcanic regions, and snowy tundras — as well as otherworldly stages set within a Dreamworld dimension. Tak's weapon remains constantly accessible, and magical energy is tracked through a feather count rather than a traditional meter. Juju abilities are unlocked progressively as the story advances rather than requiring active discovery, and they are executed by holding a dedicated button and entering directional or button combinations. Animal companions assist Tak throughout, including creatures not featured in the first game.
