The Bookwalker: Thief of Tales is a narrative adventure RPG developed by Do My Best and released in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Players control Etienne Quist, a formerly celebrated writer stripped of his ability to create following a criminal conviction, who accepts a shadowy deal with a crime boss: steal legendary artifacts hidden within the pages of various books in exchange for his freedom. Each mission plunges Etienne into a distinct fictional world — a medieval prison, a snow-covered mountain, a futuristic spaceship — each governed by its own rules and inhabitants. Progress involves solving unconventional puzzles, gathering real-world items to overcome in-book obstacles, and navigating encounters through persuasion, deception, or turn-based combat. A sentient page serves as Etienne's companion throughout. The mystical power of ink allows manipulation of objects within book worlds, and movement between reality and fiction is central to solving the game's challenges.
