Developed by Forust and released in 2021, The Company Man is a 2D side-scrolling action-platformer available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. Players control Jim, a recent university graduate who joins the Good Water Company with ambitions of reaching the CEO position, only to find himself brawling through the corporate hierarchy to keep his job. Combat involves unconventional workplace weapons — keyboards and email blasts among them — as Jim fights through distinct office departments, each with its own environmental theme and enemy types. Stages range from the icy corridors of accounting to the paper-choked halls of human resources. Coffee serves as a health mechanic throughout. Enemies draw from office archetypes, including some deliberately absurd variations. The game features hand-drawn animations and painted environments rendered in a classic side-scrolling format.
Jim finally graduates from university, ready to launch his epic career in the Good Water Company. But things quickly spiral into insanity as he finds himself fighting to avoid getting fired. Jim must learn the quirks of each department, from the air-conditioned ice lands of accounting to the mountains of paperwork in human resources, beating every floor on his journey to the top.
