Developed by Fishing Planet LLC and released in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, The Fisherman: Fishing Planet is a fishing simulator built around authenticity and depth. Players can pursue 143 species of fish across 19 distinct lake and river locations, spanning environments from the Florida Everglades and the Volga River in Russia to the Gand-Terneuzen canal in the Netherlands and a dedicated map of Creuse, France. Four fishing techniques are available — float fishing, spinning, bottom fishing, and trolling — supported by a selection of over 1,000 pieces of gear, including rods, rigs, boats, kayaks, and sonar equipment. Dynamic weather, a full day/night cycle, and four seasons keep conditions variable between sessions. Visual fidelity relies on photogrammetry for environmental detail. Training missions provide a structured entry point for newcomers, while experienced players can pursue single-player and cooperative competitions against other anglers worldwide. Seasonal events and free updates expand the content over time.
