Developed by House of Tales and released in 2004 for PC, The Moment of Silence is a third-person point-and-click adventure set in New York City in the year 2044. Players control Peter Wright, an advertising executive working on a government campaign centered on free speech, whose life is upended when a heavily armed SWAT team raids his neighbor's apartment. The resulting investigation pulls Peter into a web of corruption and political power. The game features 75 locations crafted by CG artists, spanning more than 500 interactive screens, and blends real-world settings with fictional environments across a near-future cityscape. Progression combines traditional inventory puzzles with branching dialogue and action sequences. Production elements include motion-captured animation with real-time facial expressions, lip-sync driven by phonetic voice analysis, 30 minutes of full-screen video, and over eight hours of professional voice acting across more than 35 characters.
