Released in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, The Surge: The Good, the Bad, and the Augmented is a downloadable expansion for the action RPG The Surge. The add-on sends protagonist Warren deeper into the CREO facility, where an old, long-abandoned Quality Assurance laboratory has been unearthed. The lab was originally designed to stress-test CREO technology to its limits, and its architect, Dr. Rischboter, has constructed a series of deadly test chambers within it. Despite their industrial origins, these chambers carry a distinctly surreal aesthetic, evoking the look and feel of a Wild West television production. Players navigate this strange, lethal environment while contending with the hazards and enemy encounters that define the base game's combat-focused gameplay loop.
