Released in 2001 by Red Storm Entertainment for PC, Black Thorn is a tactical shooter expansion for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear. The package adds nine single-player missions built around a new narrative, alongside six multiplayer-exclusive maps that include both original locations and reworked versions of existing ones. The arsenal expands by fourteen weapons, among them the M60 machine gun and the futuristic FN P90. A standout addition is the Lone Wolf multiplayer mode, in which one heavily armed operative faces off against all other players; the winner of each round assumes the Lone Wolf role in the next. All classic Rogue Spear multiplayer game types carry over as well, including Defend, Terrorist Hunt, Assault, and Recon, preserving the methodical, team-based structure that defined the base game.
