Touhou Sky Arena: Matsuri Climax is a 3D aerial combat game developed by Area-ZERO, released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Based on the Touhou Project franchise, it pits characters from Gensokyo against one another in high-speed airborne battles combining shooting and spell-based action. Shots and spells are finite resources, requiring players to adapt their approach depending on the situation. Central to the gameplay is the "Fired-up Battle System," in which character abilities shift dynamically according to the currently playing track, influencing whether an offensive or defensive approach is more viable. Over 90 songs recorded by Japanese artists are included, and players can create custom Fired-up Mode configurations tied to their preferred music. A separate "Reigyoku System" allows ability customization across attack, speed, and protection categories. Online multiplayer supports up to four players, with ranked and casual match options, including 2-vs-2 formats. Stages depict floating locations within Gensokyo, where environmental elements such as shrines and rocks can obstruct projectiles.
