Developed by Alkemi and released in 2012, Transcripted is an indie arcade hybrid available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch that fuses twin-stick shooting with match-three puzzle mechanics. Players pilot the Nano Probe, a microscopic vessel deployed inside a human body to eradicate a spreading infection by destroying pseudo-DNA strands winding along a continuous path. Combat requires navigating dense swarms of pathogens and defeating large boss colonies that the disease has evolved as a defense mechanism. A skill tree governs upgrades to weapons, shields, and ship equipment, while experience points earned through skillful shots and combos fund further customization. The campaign spans 25 missions alongside five challenge levels oriented around score competition. Notably, the difficulty of the shooting and puzzle segments can be adjusted independently, accommodating a wide range of play styles across both components of the game.
