TransWorld Surf is a surfing simulation game developed by Angel Studios and released in 2001 for Xbox and PlayStation 2. Players compete as licensed professional surfers, including Taj Burrow, Andy Irons, and Shane Dorian, executing aerial maneuvers and tailslides across more than 20 real-world surf locations such as Todos Santos, Hossegor, and Tavarua. Each break presents distinct challenges, and hazards like sharks add environmental danger to the experience. A multiplayer mode allows two players to compete on the waves simultaneously. Performance timing also plays a strategic role — pulling off impressive moves in front of in-game photographers can earn cover placement in a virtual edition of TransWorld Surf magazine. The game draws on the branding and culture of the TransWorld Surf publication to ground its presentation in the aesthetics of professional competitive surfing.
