Tribes: Vengeance is a first-person shooter developed by Irrational Games and released for PC in 2004, serving as a prequel to Starsiege: Tribes by depicting the origins of the Tribal War. The single-player campaign follows five characters across two generations, tracing how their intertwined fates escalate a conflict between imperial powers and tribal factions. The story begins when Phoenix sub-clan leader Daniel abducts Princess Victoria, intending to expose her to the injustices suffered by his people; the two eventually fall in love, and a cybrid assassin named Mercury is dispatched to kill Daniel, though the contract is called off at the last moment. Attempts at reconciliation between the Imperials and the Phoenix collapse after the Blood Eagle tribe raids a Phoenix base while disguised as Imperial soldiers, triggering a chain of betrayals and killings that ultimately produces a new generation — Daniel and Victoria's daughter, Julia.
