Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution is a 2002 fighting game developed by Sega AM2, released for arcades and later PlayStation 2 as an expanded revision of Virtua Fighter 4. The update introduced two new playable characters: Goh Hinogami, a Judoka assassin, and Brad Burns, a Muay Thai boxer. The addition of Burns had a direct effect on the existing roster — Vanessa Lewis lost her alternate Muay Thai fighting style, which was replaced with a Vale Tudo "Offensive" style, leaving her as a dedicated Vale Tudo brawler. Beyond the new characters, every existing fighter received adjustments, and all stages were reworked in some capacity. These environmental changes ranged from aesthetic shifts in lighting and time of day — Lei-Fei's stage, for instance, moved from a sunset setting to a morning one — reflecting the breadth of refinements applied across the game.
