Virtual Pool is a billiards simulation developed by Celeris and released in 1995 for DOS, Windows, Mac, and PlayStation. Built by a team of physicists and professional pool players, the game models ball physics with considerable precision — balls roll, skid, and collide across a fully rendered 3D table meant to replicate real-world play. Players can move freely around the table to scout angles, step closer or farther back, and look left or right before lining up a shot, mimicking the physical experience of standing at an actual table. An overhead camera angle offers a perspective unavailable in real pool. The game caters to beginners and experienced players alike, with instructional content provided by World Champion player Lou "Machine Gun" Butera, who demonstrates more than 30 trick shots that players can study on screen and apply in real-life play.
