Pirates of Belerion is the first expansion for Wartales, the tactical role-playing game developed by Shiro Games, released in 2023 for PC. The expansion introduces Belerion, an entirely new region set apart from the base game's world, featuring its own storyline with secrets to uncover and previously unseen factions to encounter. A notable addition is navigation, a new mode of travel that changes how players move through and explore the region. As with the base game, gameplay blends turn-based tactical combat with broader strategic decision-making. The expansion builds on Wartales' existing systems while offering a self-contained experience centered on this coastal setting, giving players fresh narrative content, new adversaries and allies tied to the pirate theme, and a distinct geographic environment to work through.
Since the collapse of the old kingdom of Belerion, the archipelago seemed to have been abandoned. Its population of mostly fishermen quickly turned to piracy, merchants deserted its waters, nothing seemed able to halt the decay of these lands… until the arrival of the Ihrian peoples.
