Developed by G.rev and originally released in arcades in 2005 before arriving on Xbox 360, WarTech: Senko no Ronde is a hybrid fighting and shoot-'em-up title set in a far future where humanity has spread across multiple galaxies and Earth has been reduced to a resource extraction site. Political conflict over global dominance has escalated into open warfare, fought primarily through aerial mech combat. Players pilot Rounder Mechs in one-on-one battles that blend the close-quarters structure of a fighting game with bullet-pattern mechanics drawn from the shooter genre. The setting frames each encounter as part of a larger struggle between rival factions competing for control, placing individual skirmishes within the context of an interstellar conflict. The combination of two traditionally distinct genres gives the game a distinctive rhythm uncommon to either category on its own.
