When Ski Lifts Go Wrong is a physics-based construction puzzle game developed by Hugecalf Studios and released in 2019 for PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch. Players take on the role of a mountain resort engineer, tasked with designing and building infrastructure — including chairlifts, gondolas, bridges, ramps, and jumps — to transport passengers safely across increasingly treacherous mountain terrain. The game's rope physics simulate real mechanical stresses, meaning structural shortcuts can lead to spectacular, consequences-laden failures. A campaign of over 100 levels progresses from gentle foothills to exposed alpine peaks, with difficulty ranging from beginner to expert. Between construction phases, players can directly control riders through skiing, snowboarding, motorbiking, and cycling activities. Budget management and optional bonus objectives feed into online leaderboards. Additional modes include a freeform sandbox level editor and Steam Workshop support, allowing players to share and test community-created challenges. Built-in GIF and video export tools make it straightforward to share replays.
