Wizball is a horizontally scrolling shooter developed by Sensible Software and released in 1987 for platforms including the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and DOS. Across eight levels, the player controls a wizard transformed into a bouncing green ball, navigating landscapes and shooting enemies to restore color to a monochromatic world. Each level begins rendered in shades of grey and requires the collection of red, blue, and green paint droplets to complete. Shooting colored spheres releases these droplets, but only the wizard's companion, Catellite — a spherical cat — can actually gather them. The wizard starts with severely restricted movement, bouncing at a fixed rate, though shooting certain enemies yields green pearls that can be spent on upgrades including better mobility, improved firepower, and the ability to deploy Catellite independently. A two-player mode assigns Catellite to a second player. Special droplets of other colors trigger various effects, ranging from enemy waves to temporary invulnerability.
