Zheros is a 3D beat 'em up developed by Rimlight Studios and released in 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Players control either Mike or Captain Dorian — two contrasting intergalactic agents belonging to the ZHEROS squad — as they travel through distant galaxies to stop the villainous Dr. Vendetta from mutating all living creatures into his personal army. Combat centers on chaining together a wide variety of combos and hi-tech weapons, with a pilotable mech available as a last resort in the most dangerous encounters. Enemies range from twisted robots to bio-mechanical creatures, and character progression allows players to upgrade either physical strength or weaponry to suit their preferred approach. Both characters can be used simultaneously in local co-op mode. The game draws deliberately on classic beat 'em up conventions while presenting them within a brightly styled, science-fiction setting spread across two distinct worlds.
