Zoo Tycoon 2 is a zoo management simulator developed by Blue Fang Games and released in 2004 for PC and Mac. A follow-up to the original Zoo Tycoon, it tasks players with transforming an empty plot of land into a functioning zoo by constructing animal exhibits, placing a wider variety of species, and building visitor amenities such as concession stands. Visitor satisfaction directly influences donation income, which funds further expansion. Exhibit design is notably flexible — traditional fencing is optional, as moats and ditches can serve as enclosure barriers, reflecting practices used at real-world zoos. The game retains much of its predecessor's core management structure while expanding the animal roster and attractions available. Habitats are rendered in a stylized, somewhat cartoonish visual style, though environments are designed to appear as naturalistic as that aesthetic permits. The overall upgrade from the original lies primarily in these graphical and content additions.
