Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation is an arcade flight game developed by Project Aces and released exclusively for Xbox 360 in 2007. Players pilot fighter jets and other aircraft through missions that require engaging both airborne and ground-based enemy forces. The game streamlines flight controls in keeping with its arcade approach, emphasizing high volumes of combat against large enemy formations. Loadouts include a vulcan cannon, standard missiles, and selectable special weapons such as heat-seeking missiles, bombs, and rocket launchers. A lock-on system allows targeting multiple enemies simultaneously, and players can switch between allied tactical squad HUD readouts to coordinate support on the battlefield. Multiplayer offers four modes: Battle Royale, a free-for-all deathmatch for up to sixteen players; Team Battle, a team-based variant that awards points by aircraft type destroyed; Siege Battle, an asymmetric mode pitting an attacking team against defenders protecting a target; and Co-Op Battle, which adapts single-player missions for up to four participants.
