Armored Core: Formula Front is a 2004 strategy title developed by FromSoftware for PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2, departing significantly from the action-focused gameplay typical of the Armored Core series. Rather than piloting mechs directly in combat, players take on a managerial and engineering role: designing and customizing their mech's loadout, then programming an AI system that autonomously controls it during battles. Combat plays out without direct player input, making preparation and AI configuration the central activities. Training arenas serve as the proving ground for refining both hardware builds and AI behavior before competitive matches. The PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2 versions support USB data transfer, allowing players to exchange mech configurations between the two platforms.
