Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems, released in 2019 for the Nintendo Switch. The player assumes the role of a professor at Garreg Mach Monastery and selects one of three student houses to lead throughout the game. Alongside turn-based, grid-based combat, the experience incorporates classroom instruction, character progression, exploration of the monastery grounds, and the cultivation of relationships between characters. The choice of house shapes the narrative and determines which students the player trains and commands in battle. Character development extends beyond combat stats, with bonds formed through interactions influencing both story events and battlefield performance. The blend of strategic warfare and social simulation gives the game a dual focus, making individual character relationships as central to progression as tactical decision-making on the battlefield.
War is coming to the continent of Fódlan. Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros, which hosts the prestigious Officer’s Academy within its headquarters. You are invited to teach one of its three mighty houses, each comprised of students brimming with personality and represented by a royal from one of three territories. As their professor, you must lead your students in their academic lives and in turn-based, tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome. Which house, and which path, will you choose?
