Army of Two: The 40th Day is a third-person tactical shooter developed by Buzz Monkey Software and released in 2010 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox 360. A sequel to the original Army of Two, it returns mercenaries Salem and Rios as the central protagonists, this time stranded in Shanghai, China, when a large-scale catastrophe tears through the city. As the two fight across the devastated urban landscape, they uncover evidence that the destruction is deliberate and coordinated rather than accidental, driving the central mystery of the narrative. Cooperative play remains the foundation of the experience, with an expanded set of co-op maneuvers available at any point during combat. These additions are designed to broaden tactical options and allow players to approach encounters in varied ways, building on the collaborative mechanics that defined the original game.
