Art Academy: Home Studio, developed by Headstrong Games and released in 2015 for the Wii U, is a drawing and painting instruction game and the first fully-featured entry in the Art Academy series to appear on a home console. Players use the Wii U GamePad to create artwork across a range of lessons and freeform creative exercises. In North America the game was distributed exclusively through the Nintendo eShop as a digital download, while European audiences could purchase it at retail under the title Art Academy: Atelier. The title builds on the instructional framework established by earlier handheld entries in the series, translating that experience to the larger home console environment and its touch-screen controller.
