Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD is an action-adventure stealth game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and released in 2014 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Google Stadia. Set in 18th-century New Orleans and its surrounding territories, the game follows Aveline de Grandpré, an assassin operating amid colonial politics, slavery, and hidden conspiracies. Gameplay combines stealth, parkour traversal, and targeted assassinations, with progression tied to upgrading equipment and abilities across a single-player campaign. This HD version is an enhanced re-release of the original PlayStation Vita title, featuring improved visuals, audio, artificial intelligence, and facial animations brought closer in quality to Assassin's Creed III. It also adds additional single-player missions while removing touch-based episodes and multiplayer content that were specific to the Vita version. The game was delisted from Steam on July 11, 2022, with all DLC and online features becoming inaccessible after September 1, 2022.
In the modern day, Abstergo Entertainment, a subsidiary of Abstergo which is in charge of producing multimedia goods, releases their first major product, Liberation, a video game about the life of the Assassin Aveline de Grandpré. The game, however, is heavily censored, with any details regarding the Assassins - Templar war being comitted, in an attempt to portray the Assassins as the villainous force. As the player progresses through the game, they are greeted by messages from a group of hackers known as Erudito, giving them access to the full story hidden behind Abstergo's censoring attempts.
