Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland is a Japanese role-playing game developed by Gust and released in 2010 for PlayStation 3. The twelfth entry in the long-running Atelier series, it is the second installment in the Arland subseries and serves as a direct sequel to Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, set five years after that game's conclusion. Like its predecessors, the title centers on item synthesis through alchemy, while broadening the experience to place greater emphasis on exploration and discovery across its world. Players take on the role of Totori, navigating this expanded scope as both an alchemist and an adventurer. The game was followed by Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, the third and final entry in the Arland trilogy.
The small fishing village of Alanya on the Arland Republic's southern border is home to the young alchemist-in-training Totooria Helmold. She is called Totori by her friends and family, and she wishes to become a great adventurer. One day, she resolves to make the journey to Arland, become an adventurer, and explore the world beyond her hometown. She will make many friends along her journey of discovery — some new, some familiar. When her quest comes to a close, your actions over the course of the game will dictate whether she finds the answers to her questions, forge unbreakable bonds with friends, or take different paths entirely.
