Blitz: The League II is an arcade-style football game developed by Midway Games and released in 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A continuation of the irreverent Blitz franchise, it positions itself as a rougher, uncensored alternative to officially licensed football titles. The game features a story mode written by Peter Egan, known for ESPN's Playmakers, with football legend Lawrence Taylor serving as cover athlete and starring as linebacker Quentin Sands of the New York Nightmare, supported by a broader cast of characters. Gameplay mechanics include Precision-Aim Tackles, player-controlled touchdown celebrations, and an expanded Clash Mode for on-field confrontations. Late Hits, a series staple, return alongside enlarged rosters featuring new personalities. Online multiplayer is also supported, rounding out a package aimed at players seeking a more aggressive, over-the-top take on the sport.
After playing college football and entering the prestigious professional football organization known as 'The League', the rising star nicknamed 'Franchise' (your created player) is eyed to play for The League commissioner's pet project team, the Los Angeles Riot. However, Franchise refuses and will only join The League if he can play for his hometown team (one that you, the player, create) Having gotten on the commissioner's bad side by refusing the Riot, Franchise will have to battle his way up to the top of The League and win the championship, all the while facing scrutiny and sabotage from the commissioner.
