A licensed platformer and adventure game developed by Traveller's Tales in collaboration with Disney Interactive and Pixar, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command was released in 2000 for PC, PlayStation, and Dreamcast. The game is structured around a series of distinct planets, each controlled by a different villain. On every planet, players race the villain toward their escape destination before confronting them in a direct one-on-one battle. These boss encounters typically require players to first break through an energy shield protecting the villain before dealing the finishing blow. The gameplay loop of pursuit followed by a shielded boss fight gives each planet a consistent two-stage structure, while the variety of villains and settings provides differentiation across the game's levels.
