Child of Eden is a music-driven rail shooter developed by Q Entertainment and released in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Players navigate through a series of vivid, abstract stages, targeting enemies and objects in time with an electronic soundtrack. The gameplay is built around the synchronization of visuals and music, with successful attacks reinforcing the rhythm and contributing to an escalating audiovisual experience. Each stage functions as a distinct environment rendered in dense, kaleidoscopic imagery, blending organic and geometric forms. The game supports motion controls on both platforms — the PlayStation Move and Xbox Kinect — allowing physical gestures to replace traditional controller inputs. Created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, whose earlier work includes Rez, Child of Eden continues his exploration of synesthesia as a design principle, treating sound and image as inseparable elements of the core experience.
Child of Eden thrusts you in the center of a battle to save Project Lumi, a mission to reproduce a human personality inside Eden, the archive of all human memories. As the project nears completion, the archive is invaded by an unknown virus. The Player’s mission is to save Eden from the virus to restore hope and peace.
