Command & Conquer is a cancelled real-time strategy game developed by Victory Games for PC via Electronic Arts' Origin platform. Originally announced as Command & Conquer: Generals 2, a direct sequel to the 2003 title, the project was restructured in August 2012 into a free-to-play entry intended to launch a new series of games set within the Command & Conquer universe. Built on the Frostbite 3 engine, it would have marked the franchise's first use of downloadable content and made Victory Games only the third studio to develop a mainline entry, following Westwood Studios and EA Los Angeles. Plans called for a free skirmish multiplayer component around late 2013, with paid campaign missions to follow in early 2014. Development was terminated on October 29, 2013, when EA shut down Victory Games, citing player backlash against the game's economy-based design.
