Crackdown 3 is a third-person open-world shooter developed by Sumo Digital, released in 2019 for PC and Xbox One. Players take on the role of a super-powered Agent tasked with dismantling a criminal empire operating across a futuristic city. The game emphasizes vertical exploration, encouraging movement across rooftops and elevated urban terrain alongside street-level traversal in transforming vehicles. Agent abilities grow over the course of play, enabling increasingly spectacular feats of combat and mobility. The title supports cooperative play as well as a dedicated multiplayer mode in which environmental destruction serves as a core mechanic. Crackdown 3 was developed with involvement from Dave Jones, who worked on the original game in the series, and carries forward the franchise's focus on chaotic, ability-driven sandbox gameplay within a large, open metropolitan setting.
Ten years after the events of Crackdown 2 (2010), a terrorist attack from an unknown source kills power around the entire world. The Agency is thrust back into action after the attack is traced to the city of New Providence. The player characters are called into the field by the Agency's Voice as a last resort to dismantle the mysterious organization Terra Nova.
