Crash: Mind Over Mutant is a 2008 platform game developed by Radical Entertainment, released for Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable. A direct follow-up to Crash of the Titans and the seventh entry in the Crash Bandicoot series, it retains much of its predecessor's core gameplay while restructuring how the world is presented. Instead of progressing through a sequence of twenty linear levels, players move between eight distinct locations, revisiting and exploring them as the story advances. Missions handed out by non-playable characters provide objectives throughout, and collectibles are scattered across the environments for players to uncover. The shift toward a more open, interconnected world layout represents the most notable departure from the previous game's design, while the fundamental mechanics that defined Crash of the Titans remain largely intact.
The game's story centers on the arrival of a popular technological device that puts its users under the control of the device's creators and antagonists Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nitrus Brio. Crash and his magical mask friend Aku Aku are the only ones unaffected by the device, and must free their friends from its control and put an end to Dr. Cortex's plot.
