Dead Cells: The Bad Seed is a DLC expansion for the roguelike platformer Dead Cells, developed by Motion Twin and released in 2020 across a wide range of platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, Android, Mac, and Linux. The expansion adds two new early-game biomes as alternatives to existing areas: the Dilapidated Arboretum, a greenhouse populated by murderous mushroom inhabitants, and the Morass of the Banished, a toxic environment home to tree-dwelling mutants, dart-shooting frogmen, and bloodsuckers. Both levels feed into a third new area, the Nest, which culminates in a boss encounter against Mama Tick, designed to be roughly equivalent in difficulty to the base game's Concierge boss. The content is intended to introduce additional route variety into early runs for players already familiar with the base game.
