Vessel of Hatred is the first major expansion to Diablo IV, developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released in 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The expansion continues the story of the base game, sending players into Nahantu, a new jungle region, in pursuit of Neyrelle, whose decision to imprison the Prime Evil Mephisto has left her in a precarious and deteriorating situation. The central objective involves locating her and finding a way to permanently destroy Mephisto. A new playable class, the Spiritborn, is introduced alongside the existing roster, oriented around aggressive, predatory combat suited to the jungle setting. The expansion also adds Mercenaries, recruitable allies who assist in battle, and introduces a new cooperative player-versus-environment activity, expanding the options for group play within the action RPG's established hack-and-slash framework.
