Digimon World DS is a role-playing game developed by BEC and released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS — the first Digimon title on that platform. Known in Japan as Digimon Story, it bears closer resemblance to Digimon World 3 than to the mainline Digimon World series, despite its localized name. Players take on the role of a Digimon tamer, working to discover, raise, train, and command a roster of more than 230 distinct Digimon. A central mechanic involves constructing Digi-Farms, dedicated spaces where Digimon can be raised, evolved, and interacted with directly. Multiplayer features, accessible through both Wi-Fi and local wireless connectivity, allow players to trade Digimon, compete in battles, and collaborate to produce rare Digimon variants. The game went on to establish a broader franchise line, spawning four sequels including Digimon World Dawn and Dusk and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.
