Drakengard 2 is an action role-playing game developed by Cavia for PlayStation 2, released in 2005 as a direct sequel to the original Drakengard. The story centers on Nowe, a young man raised by the dragon Legna, who finds himself in conflict with a tyrannical knightly order and drawn into events that determine the fate of the world, with several characters from the first game making appearances. Gameplay blends ground-level hack-and-slash combat with aerial dragon-riding stages and RPG mechanics, following the structural template established by its predecessor. The returning producer, writer, and character designer shaped the sequel toward a more accessible, less overtly dark tone than the original.
