Formula One 05 is a racing simulator developed by SCE Studio Liverpool and released on PlayStation 2 in Europe on July 1, 2005. Based on the 2005 Formula One season, it builds on the Career Mode introduced in Formula One 04, tasking players with building a racing career across five years by starting at smaller teams such as Minardi, Jordan, or Red Bull Racing and advancing through the grid via strong test sessions and race results. Consistent underperformance can lead to dismissal, and periodic shoot-out tests against teammates determine who secures the race seat. The game uses the aggregated qualifying format from the early part of the actual 2005 season. Unlockable content includes classic cars like the Williams FW11, additional helmets, and hidden circuits for Time Attack mode. Net Play is supported, as is EyeToy: Cameo for adding a custom face to a driver profile. Cover athletes are Jenson Button, David Coulthard, and Narain Karthikeyan.
