Fate/Extra is a dungeon-crawl Japanese RPG developed by TYPE-MOON, released in 2010 for the PlayStation Portable. Set in a parallel universe to the visual novel Fate/stay night, the game opens with a choice of male or female protagonist and one of three Servants — Saber, Archer, or Caster — each carrying distinct strengths and weaknesses. Gameplay is structured around in-game weeks: during the day, players converse with their Servant, interact with other characters, and gather clues about the opposing Servant's identity. Each day concludes with a trip into the Arena, a dungeon where battling monsters yields experience used to strengthen the chosen Servant. Combat operates on a turn-based system with a rock-paper-scissors foundation — Attack beats Break, Break beats Guard, and Guard beats Attack — with both the player and the opponent secretly committing a sequence of six moves at the start of every turn.
