Final Fantasy Type-0 is an action role-playing game developed by Square Enix 1st Production Department and released in 2011 for PlayStation Portable. Set in the world of Orience, the game takes place across four rival Crystal States — the Dominion of Rubrum, the Milites Empire, the Kingdom of Concordia, and the Lorican Alliance — each drawing power from a distinct crystal tied to magic, science and weaponry, dragons, or shielding. These crystals can designate humans as servants called l'Cie, branding them with a symbol and assigning a task called a Focus. Though l'Cie gain extended life and the potential to transform into crystal, they gradually lose their memories. Orience's inhabitants also forget the dead over time, a mechanism engineered by the crystals' creators to perpetuate conflict. Central to the narrative is the pursuit of becoming Agito, a prophesied figure meant to prevent Tempus Finis, a catastrophic event threatening to destroy the world.
