Fossil Fighters: Champions is a role-playing adventure developed by Nintendo SPD Production Group No. 2 and released for Nintendo DS in 2010. Set at a fossil park hosting a global tournament, the game centers on excavating dinosaur fossils, cleaning them to determine the strength of revived creatures called vivosaurs, and entering those creatures into competitive battles. The cleaning mechanic is central to progression — more thoroughly cleaned fossils produce stronger vivosaurs — and is expanded here with giant fossil rocks containing complete dinosaur skeletons and double-sided odd fossil rocks. Combat is turn-based and positional, requiring players to field teams of three vivosaurs and rotate their formations strategically. A new category of super evolver vivosaurs can transform into advanced forms using gold fossils. Multiplayer options include matchmaking battles, team uploads for asynchronous competition, and a cooperative fossil-cleaning mode supporting up to four players locally via DS Download Play.
