G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is a third-person shooter developed by Double Helix Games, released in 2009 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Wii, and mobile platforms. Set after the events of the film of the same name, the game follows Duke and Scarlett as they lead a series of missions across multiple global locations. The campaign begins with a rescue operation at a M.A.R.S. detention facility in the Arctic, then moves through Egypt, where the Joes confront Firefly and attempt to secure an artifact known as the Apep Gem, and into a jungle region where Cobra has constructed a large pyramid structure. Boss encounters include the Baroness, Destro, and ultimately Cobra Commander alongside Storm Shadow at a volcanic base at the North Magnetic Pole. Players control members of the Joe team across these successive combat missions.
