Grand Theft Auto, developed by DMA Design and released in 1997 for PC, DOS, PlayStation, and Nintendo 64, is the first entry in Rockstar Games' long-running sandbox-crime series. Blending shooter, racing, and adventure elements, the game spreads its levels across three distinct cities, tasking players with accumulating a set point total within each before driving to a designated location to advance. Points function simultaneously as a money counter, allowing players to purchase paint jobs and other items between objectives. Spending that money, however, reduces the overall score, creating a tension between improving one's situation and staying on pace toward the target. Each level allows five lives to reach the required total, and progress through the game depends on successfully meeting the threshold and completing the exit condition in each stage.
As an aspiring young thug, your mission in this video game is to perform odd jobs for the mob, picking up points along the way by committing random crimes ranging from auto theft to hit-and-runs to murder.
