Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns is a farming simulation and role-playing game developed by Marvelous Interactive, released in 2010 for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. The player takes the role of a new farmer who arrives in a region divided between two neighboring settlements, Bluebell and Konohana, which were once connected by a mountain tunnel. A long-running dispute over culinary superiority between the two towns so irritated the Harvest Goddess that she collapsed the tunnel, leaving cooking festivals — held four times each season — as the only point of contact between them. The player begins with no memory of which town they originally intended to settle in, and must listen to each mayor's account before choosing where to establish a farm. Gameplay revolves around building up that farm and engaging with the rivalry between the two communities.
