A street racing game developed by Juice Games and published by THQ, Juiced was released in 2005 for Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC after a turbulent development period that saw original publisher Acclaim go bankrupt before launch. The game offers both career and arcade modes, presenting players with progressively more difficult racing challenges. Extensive car customization allows for personalized vehicle builds, while arcade mode provides opportunities to unlock additional cars. Nitrous boost mechanics add a layer of speed management familiar to fans of the genre. Following its initial release, the PC version was reissued in early 2006 by Focus Multimedia at a budget price under its "Essential" series. Juiced performed strongly at retail, reaching number one on the United Kingdom MCV sales charts and selling 2.5 million copies across its first release.
There are four different racing types: circuit (standard racing with laps), point-to-point (single lap), sprint (drag race), and showoff (timed race). The player's reputation fluctuates with their wins and losses, and receives awards for raising their reputation.
